Rebuilding our back decks is a big project we've been planning for several years. I'm creating this blog as an easy way to share progress as the work goes on.
The project is officially complete. We got all of our planters installed - before the rain started. Also a shot of our completed outdoor sofa. And it's going to get warm when?
We decided to do a built in bench/sofa with storage underneath. Paired with catalog available Sunbrella cushion sets it's a pretty easy comfort solution. The guys did a great job with mostly pressure treated deck board material.
We negotiated custom built planter boxes with our contractor. We're going to mount them but it should tie together the whole project. There will be 18 of them! I'll get a few photos once they're installed.
The crew returned today to begin our final details. Today they got our new rain gutters up and materials were delivered for our custom planter boxes. As you can see from the piles, they got a good start on production. We're having 18 of these built.
The decks are now officially open! The guys did a great job today wrapping up loose ends. They'll be back next week to work on our rain gutters and custom planters. All of the construction debris should be removed tomorrow or Friday. We couldn't be more pleased!
The stair pickets are done on the third and second floors, as well as the stairways. Only floor one to complete. Material for ground floor skirting arrived. Nice day here, still cold though.
Today the crew nearly completed the framing for the railings. Rather complicated and time consuming with all of the angles on the stairs. They also got pickets installed on the third floor. It's almost looking like a finished product.
