A rainy Tuesday

The crew got a few hours in this morning, not worth getting my camera wet over. They plumbed up a few vertical columns and got one or two framing pieces up for the 3rd floor. Weather outlook for tomorrow looks much better. At least it's too warm to snow!

Monday's progress

Another material delivery today. The guys finished up the flooring on two. Then worked on ledger boards for three. And started extending the vertical columns upward. Looks like these will require one more piece to reach the roof. Not bad progress for a 2 man crew today. Weather outlook for tomorrow looks wet.

Sunday morning

A few shots of a dismal, cold and snowy morning in Chicago. Our job site doesn't look very inviting right now.

Saturday's work

Despite the weather outlook the crew was on the site promptly at 8AM. They tackled the floor boards on the second level. And they nearly finished it by mid afternoon. We're expecting rain, changing to snow later this evening. Weather report says we could see 5" of snow by morning... And it's spring?

Friday's progress

Today the crew finished all of the framing for the second floor. We're ready for deck boards now. They also finished the first landing on the stair tower as well as the stairs leading up to the second floor. Lastly you might notice that they started installing these big L brackets on the vertical columns under the first floor framing. Tomorrow is Saturday, weather outlook doesn't look good - so we'll see if they decide to work or not. 9 work days into the project who could complain about the progress they've made.

Today focused on perimiter framing for the second floor and a start on floor joists. The first components of the new stair tower configuration are in place including the first landing between the first and second floor. Stringers are up for the first set of stairs.

Wednesday's progress

Today the crew installed the flooring material on the entire first floor. Teflon coated tap head screws were used so we shouldn't have any problems with popping nails like before. Very nice installation quality. They also got started on ledger boards for the second floor. You can actually walk around on the first floor deck at this point!

Tuesday's progress

Flooring material arrived today. And the crew finished framing the entire first floor. Floor joist hangers were added. The first stair component was installed. Railing posts are up and they poured the last footings for the stair tower. And it rained some too!

Framing continues on the first floor. You can see the indentation in the middle where the new stair tower configuration will go. The lumber is far more substantial than when was previously there.

The first lumber goes up

The crew worked on Saturday and got a good start getting the first columns erected. Also the first floor ledger boards can be seen mounted on the masonry.

Construction begins

The first lumber arrives, footings are poured and we're ready to start building.
